If you are interested in viewing what the University of Idaho Library Digital Collection has in relation to Potlatch, Bovill, Helmer, the cities, mill sites and local areas, click on this link and have fun exploring the old photos.
The title of this particular one is…Potlatch Lumber Company Photograph Collection.
I spent a bit of time today editing and uploading some old interviews to our YouTube channel. Before I post any of the content, keep in mind that these names may get messed up. The interviews aren’t documented well and it can be hard to discern names over old audio. If you have any corrections or recommendations, please let us know and the information will be updated.
The main event would be an interview of George LePard done in 1974. It had a fair amount of background noise that I attempted to mitigate but it’s just a victim of the times. Have a listen to it here:
Next is some chat with Stewart Byl from 1998:
Finally, a 2-part (approx 1hr in total) chat with RR Schnurr, date unknown:
More interviews and archive audio are coming, subscribe to our YouTube channel, Twitter or Facebook to get more updates.
Since this is the first post of the new year, Happy New Year! Happy Valentine’s Day as well!
I’ve been gathering up thew PHS newsletters that are sent out bi-annually and uploading them to this website. There’s only 7 so far but more are coming, I will try to archive as many as possible. Look for them on the new Newsletters page of our site.
It also looks like some images got broken on a couple pages, I’ve downloaded all the images that were linked to off-site and re-uploaded them here. When viewing pages on this site, keep in mind that most images are re-sized so they do not take up much room. Many images are quite large and if you click on them, they will go full-size.
Tonight I’m going to be trimming (not editing) and uploading audio interviews from the PHS vault. Everything will be public on our YouTube channel which you can view here: https://www.youtube.com/user/PoHiSo/videos
The purpose of this is to archive historical information online where it is publicly viewable for free and preserved for the future. If you have any questions, concerns or more information we can add to the videos, please let us know.
As some of you may know, PHS has had a Facebook account for some time. To help better organize things and get our name out there, I have also setup a Twitter account which you can find here: https://twitter.com/potlatchhs I have also setup a web service that automatically cross-posts anything on this website to both the Twitter and Facebook accounts. This is to help draw people to the website where a plethora of information will be stored and added to on a regular basis. Feel free to let us know if you have any comments or suggestions. Thank you!
Hello everyone, Nate here. I just wanted to let any passers-by know that this site is under construction as we pull information from our old websites and try to organize it in a friendly and easy to read manner. We hope to be adding more information, pictures, pages and all sorts of goodies to this site to help spread the word of the Potlatch Historical Society. If you have any comments, suggestions or concerns, please let me know at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you.
